The department of Botany came into existence in 1962-63, two years after the establishment of Vardhaman College, Bijnor. The department has been imparting quality education to its students with a high consistency based on latest syllabi prescribed by M.J.P. Rohilkhand, University, Bareilly. It has a wealth of highly qualified and experienced faculty supported by dedicated non-teaching staff.
The department has availed the valuable services of worthy ex-faculty members like Dr. D.P. Gupta, Mrs. Mridul Niwas, Dr. Neerja Gupta and Dr. O. P. Chauhan. A considerable number of alumni of the department are well placed and occupying top position in various fields such as teaching in various Universities and colleges, scientists in National Research Institutes, Indian Forest Services. Some are working as renowned doctors in the country. The department has a well-equipped laboratory and a lecture theatre for B.Sc. classes. A well planned botanical garden is also an attraction of the department. Many plant species according to the syllabi of B.Sc. students are planted here. Besides it, number of others important plant species are also planted in various sections. Project for M.Sc. (Botany) is also in pipeline.
