Dr. Alka Sahoo is the life member of Indian Sociological Society and Radha Kamal Mekherjee: Ek Chintan Parampara; and renewed annual member of Amnesty International, India. She has few publications and many paper presentations, guest lectures, session chair, resource person; valedictory lecture to her credit.
The research work of Dr. Alka Sahoo on the topic “WOMEN IN POLICING IN INDIA: A SOCIOLOGICAL STUDY OF THEIR STATUS AND ROLE IN A CHANGING URBAN SOCIETY” was published in 2008. The book entitled “WOMEN IN POLICE PROFESSION” is first of its kind on Delhi Police and third in India. She was awarded with “Bharat Jyoti Award” in 2012 and was nominated for Indira Gandhi Excellence Award, 2013 and Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, 2014.
Dr. Alka Sahoo had sent a proposal to WWF (World Wildlife Fund), Delhi on 26.01.2019 to sign a MoU to conduct a survey in Ganga Basin under the programme “Rivers for Life, Life for Rivers”. The proposed “Socio-economic survey of Fisherman households in villages of Bijnor and Narora” will be funded by WWF, Delhi and conducted shortly. The proposal has been accepted by the WWF, Delhi on 12.02.2019.
